Why should we support Borough Market?

More than its delectable food choices, what makes Borough Market appealing is its mission to work for the benefit of the community. Run by a board of volunteer trustees, Borough Market places high value on the sustainable practices of its traders. They also make sure that the traders operate with minimal effect on the environment, such as sustainable food production, no plastic bags, and less food wastage.

Tip # 1: Avoid crowded time slots.

Borough Market tends to get crowded especially on weekends and lunch breaks. Thus, thr first tip is to go there when it is less crowded, which is usually in the mornings.

Tip # 2: Research food stalls ahead of time

With over 100 food stalls to choose from, choosing just 1 or 2 stalls to try when you are already at Borough Market might give you a headache! Thus, the second tip is to research online about food stalls that you want to try, and ask the market’s staff for its location.

Tip # 3: Keep an eye on your bag

Take care of your personal belongings, especially if you come during crowded times. There are pickpockets lurking around preying on hungry and busy customers. Just be vigilant all the time!

Tip # 4: Bring your own takeaway bag.

Bring an eco bag or a spare bag should you wish to purchase food and drinks for take away. As a believer of sustainability, Borough Market does not use plastic bags for takeaway.

Tip # 5: Savor every flavor

Every trader at Borough Market has been meticulously chosen for two reasons. One of them is the flavor of their food that represents their respective cuisines. Another reason is how sustainable the practices of these traders are. Savor every flavor of the food you taste — knowing that you are not only enjoying it for the flavor, but also supporting Borough Market in its mission to its customers and the environment.
