Wait… This is not the London Bridge?

Wait… This is not the London Bridge?

Welcome back to Team Tala Travels!

In this article, we will share with you our adventure to see one of the famous bridges in London…

…the London Bridge!

… and also another bridge in London!

Let’s go!

How we got to London

We are staying at the home of my sister and her family in High Wycombe, England, which is an hour away from London by train.

We started our day by walking to High Wycombe Train Station so we can get to London! Archie, my sister’s husband, already checked the train schedules online, so we made sure that we were at the station ahead of time.

Archie bought group return tickets, which is cheaper than buying tickets individually. This means that we can use the ticket from High Wycombe to London Marylebone Station, then in all Tube Underground stations in London, and back to High Wycombe. This ticket is our most prized possession at this point!

When we reached London Marylebone, we took the Underground train Bakerloo Line to Bank Street station. We have to be at the Sky Garden by 10:45 am. Don’t be late because Sky Garden will only let you in at the time indicated in your ticket!

After that, we did a 16-minute walk towards the Tower Bridge. We passed by the famous Tower of London, which was the most secure castle for the royals during the war. Click here for more information about the Tower of London!

We did this during the summer, and oh my, the sun was blazing hot! We got so exhausted by the time we reached the Tower Bridge.

We always thought this is the London Bridge

But no! This is the Tower Bridge! The walk going here is sooo tiring!

But it was all worth it! The Tower Bridge is one of the magnificent structures that I have seen in my life!

The Tower Bridge is a 940-feet tall bridge that crosses the Thames River. Its two towers are connected by horizontal walkways at the upper level, and wider ones at the lower level for vehicles.

The Tower Bridge is a famous landmark in London, and many people confuse it with the London Bridge, probably because of the famous nursery rhyme London Bridge is falling down.

Meanwhile, this is the London Bridge.

For those who are still confused, if you see a bridge with 2 towers in London, that is definitely the Tower Bridge, and not the London Bridge.

The towers are so magnificent especially that it has a Victorian Gothic style to match the architecture of the nearby Tower of London. To immortalise the moment,  take pictures as you cross the Tower Bridge when you get to London.

Of course we took pictures! Lots of pictures!

Touring the Tower Bridge

The Tower Bridge is one of the many landmarks and tourist destinations in London. Aside from taking pictures, many tourists tour the North and South Towers of the Bridge and walk on the upper level walkways of the bridge.

In the interest of time and because we have a kid and an infant with us, we decided to forego touring the Tower Bridge.

But if you have the time and the energy to do it, by all means, do it! To know more about what to find when you tour the Tower Bridge, click this link
