Saracen Bay Resort Koh Rong Sanloem: Family-Friendly Beachfront Paradise in Cambodia

Welcome back to Team Tala Travels!

If you’re dreaming of a laid-back island escape with soft white sand, clear blue water, and really good food, let me tell you about our stay at Saracen Bay Resort on the beautiful island of Koh Rong Sanloem.

We stayed here for four nights, and honestly, it felt like we pressed pause on real life. Aside from swimming and lounging, we also did other activities in the island, which will be featured in our next blog!

First Impressions

Saracen Bay Resort is a beachfront tropical resort located right on the stunning shores of Saracen Bay. When we arrived at Koh Rong Sanloem Port, we were so happy to find out that the resort is just walking distance from the port. Even better? They have a small boat that transports your luggage to and from the resort. No dragging heavy suitcases through the sand under the sun — major win!

From the moment we stepped onto the beach, we knew we were going to love it.

Wide, soft sand stretched out just like at One Beach Resort in Sandy Beach— but in a whole new corner of Koh Rong Sanloem.

Our Room: Partial Sea View

We booked a Partial Sea View Room, and it was perfect for our little family. The room is technically for two people, but Tala stayed free, and they even provided her with a free mattress. That small gesture made a big difference for us.

When we opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was. Inside, there’s a comfy queen-sized bed, a couch with a small table, a food counter area, and a closet with hangers — which is always helpful when you’re staying for five nights like we did. There’s also a fridge and a safety box for convenience.

The bathroom? Big and clean. Always appreciated.

But our favorite part might have been the balcony. It has outdoor couches where we’d just sit, relax, and enjoy the sea breeze. That partial sea view was enough to give us those island vibes every single day.

Now, to keep it real — the air conditioning is a bit old. It works, but you can tell it’s not brand new. Also, the electricity briefly shuts off around 2:00 AM and then turns back on right away. It didn’t really bother us; we figured it’s probably due to switching power sources, which can happen on islands. Nothing that ruined our sleep or our stay.

Let’s Talk About the Food

Okay. The food deserves its own spotlight.

Breakfast is not buffet-style — it’s à la carte. You order from their menu, and there are plenty of options. From American-style breakfasts to European dishes, pancakes, and Khmer food, there’s something for everyone. Everything is freshly made, and you can taste the quality.

Since the free breakfast included in our package was only for two people, we ordered extra for Tala. No regrets — it was all delicious.

But here’s what made our stay even better: we basically lived at the lounge chairs during the day. We’d order snacks and lunch and just eat right there by the beach. Imagine this — you’re under a beach umbrella, the sand is soft and white, the water is crystal clear, and you’re munching on fresh spring rolls with a cold drink in hand. That was our life for five days.

Our top food recommendations?

  • The spring rolls — super fresh and flavorful.
  • The banana fritters — perfectly crispy and sweet.
  • The lime juice — so refreshing in the tropical heat.

Everything we ordered for snacks and lunch was superb. It made beach days even better because we didn’t have to leave our comfy lounge chairs.

For dinner, we actually made it a routine to walk over to Sara Resort — but that’s a story for another blog! Let’s just say our evenings were just as fun as our lazy beach days.

The Beach & Lounge Areas

The beachfront here is beautiful. The shore is wide, sandy, and never felt overcrowded. There are plenty of beach umbrellas and lounge chairs, so the chances of not finding a spot are very small.

One thing we really appreciated is how clean the water is. There aren’t many boats docking in this part of Saracen Bay, so the sea stays clear and calm. Perfect for swimming, floating, or just standing there enjoying the view.

The resort also has nice lounge areas where you can just chill, read a book, or enjoy a drink. It’s very relaxed and not overly commercialized — which we loved.

Overall Experience

After four nights at Saracen Bay Resort, we can honestly say we had an amazing stay. It’s family-friendly, relaxing, and beautifully located. The room was spacious and comfortable, the food was consistently delicious, and the beach was exactly what you imagine when you think of a tropical island getaway.

Yes, there are minor things like the older aircon and the quick 2 AM power switch — but they were so small compared to everything we loved.

If you’re looking for a peaceful island escape in Koh Rong Sanloem where you can wake up to the sound of the waves, eat great food by the beach, and truly unwind, this place is definitely worth considering.

From us (and Tala!), Saracen Bay Resort gets a big, happy 5 stars. 🌴✨
